Leadership
The New Testament identifies two offices of the local church body: Elders (also called Bishops/Pastors/Shepherds) and Deacons (1 Timothy 3:1-13) (Titus 1:5-9). Christ the King Church adheres to and recognizes a two-office view of church government as the form of polity most faithful to that laid down in scripture. Every elder in the church has the ability to teach from the pulpit, counsel, disciple, baptize, and administer communion to the congregation. The governing body of the church, called the Session, is composed of elders/bishops/presbyters who each hold equal authority, one with the other. The term “Presbyterian” simply means to be ruled by many elders. Thus, the form of church government to which we ascribe is called Presbyterian. All members of the session are accountable to one another and to the Presbytery. Within the CPC, all elders have been examined and ordained to the Gospel ministry. In normal practice each congregation will be served by a plurality of elders, but because Christ the King Church is a new ministry, we currently have one elder, Dave Buehner. As we grow, we wait upon the Lord to provide additional elders and deacons to serve this body of believers.
In accordance with Scripture, the future deacons of Christ the King Church will serve the church and lead in the practical and physical acts of mercy. Members of the church who stand destitute of help, widows and orphans in our midst would be ministered to by the deacons. The Session is responsible for oversight of the deacons and shall direct their work, both outside the church with respect to the poor, and within the church with respect to the local congregation and ministry.

Pastor Dave Buehner has been married to his bride Holly for over thirty years and together they raise and home school all five of their children on the high plains east of Monument, Colorado. Several years ago, Kevin Swanson asked Dave to help him to create and produce the Generations Radio program, and after a short time on the air, Dave became Kevin’s regular co-host. Because of that early involvement with Generations Radio, Dave helped to get the Generations with Vision ministry started. He has been involved as the “Abbot” and instructor at the Shepherd Center, a place of training for young men to prepare them for life in the kingdom. Prior to being engaged in full time ministry, Dave produced training media for the telecommunications industry. He has earned a BA in Technical Communications, an MS in Computer Information Technology and is in pursuit of an additional graduate degree in ministry.
