How We Started

Christ the King Church was conceived under the oversight of the Covenant Presbyterian Church denomination (CPC), but was planted with the help of Reformation Church OPC in Castle Rock, CO.  This unusual beginning that involves two confessional reformed denominations happened when Dave Buehner, who served for many years as an elder at Reformation Church, was sent to establish a new church in Colorado in June of 2011. Dave asked Reformation to send him to the CPC, a denomination that more closely aligned with Dave’s own distinctives.  The session at Reformation obliged and did send Dave to the CPC with their blessing and support.  The CPC did, in turn, receive Dave, examine him, and ordain him. Thus, from two denominations, both with a strong emphasis on relationships in Christ, a new ministry was born.   Many families came with Dave from Reformation to build the new church. We are delighted to say that Christ the King Church is a new expression of an old church; dating back to the apostles, with many dear brothers in Christ across many denominations all serving the one true Lord.
